Terms of Use
Last updated August 24, 2026
These terms apply when you use Kept. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Kept.
What Kept is
Kept is a personal budgeting tool. It connects to your card or bank account through Plaid on a read-only basis, calculates a percentage of your eligible purchases, and tells you how much to set aside each week.
Kept does not move money. It does not hold funds, open accounts, execute transfers, or transact on your behalf. You make every transfer yourself, at your own bank, and you tell Kept whether you did.
Kept is not a bank and is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, money transmitter, payment processor, or financial institution. Kept does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The amounts Kept shows — including projections of what you might set aside over time — are estimates based on your past transactions, not promises or guarantees of any result.
Your account
Kept is invite-only at this stage: an account can only be created with a mobile number that Kept has added to its invite list. Being on that list means only that the number may register. It is not consent to receive text messages, which you give separately at signup, and Kept does not text you because you were invited. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. You may only connect financial accounts that you own or are authorized to use.
Text messages (SMS)
- Participation is voluntary. Consent to receive text messages is not required to use Kept, and is never a condition of any purchase. You opt in by checking a box that is not pre-selected.
- What you can expect. If you opt in, Kept may send a recurring weekly reminder telling you the amount your own Kept activity has set aside and that it is time to move it. That weekly reminder is the only automated message Kept sends.
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Reply STOP to any Kept message to unsubscribe. You may receive a single message confirming your request.
- Reply HELP for assistance, or contact Kept using the address below.
- Your number. You are responsible for providing a mobile number you are authorized to use, and for telling Kept if it changes or is reassigned.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to access other people's accounts or data, interfere with or disrupt Kept, reverse engineer it, or use it for anything unlawful.
Third-party services
Kept depends on services it does not control, including Plaid for financial data and Twilio for message delivery. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms, and Kept is not responsible for their acts or omissions.
Availability and changes
Kept is an early-stage product. It is provided as-is, may be unavailable at times, may contain errors, and may change or be discontinued. Kept may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kept is provided without warranties of any kind, and Kept is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision you make based on the amounts Kept displays. You are responsible for your own financial decisions and for verifying any transfer you make.
Ending your use
You may stop using Kept at any time and request that your account and its data be deleted. Kept may suspend or end access to accounts that violate these terms.
